Manuel Castanheira de Oliveira obtained his medical degree by the University of Coimbra in 2003 and did is residency in Urology at Centro Hospitalar do Porto – Hospital de Santo António from 2006 to 2011. He has also post-graduate in Legal Medicine by the National Institute of Legal Medicine since 2007 and obtained the fellowship from the European Board of Urology in 2013.
He is now a consultant urologist at the Centro Hospitalar do Porto – Hospital de Santo António since 2012, and is the coordinator of the Urothelial Oncology Unit of the Urology Department. He also works as a legal medicine expert physician at the National Institute of Legal Medicine since 2008, in the area of Bodily Damage Assessment.
His main fields of interest are Oncology, Neurourology, Urogynecology and Reconstructive Urology. He’s a member of national and international scientific societies, participated in different clinical trials and is presently developing clinical and translational research on circulating tumor cells in urological oncologic diseases, together with other scientific research centers. He’s an author and co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and is a scientific reviewer for several international journals.
