Stavros Gravas graduated as Medical Doctor from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1989. He became a qualified Urologist in 1999 and was also qualified as Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) in the same year.
In 2002, he attended the 12-month fellowship on Endourology (recognized by the Endourological Society) at Minimal Invasive Urology Centre and Laparoscopy of the University Hospital in Nijmegen (Programme director: Dr. Jean de la Rosette). In 2005, he received his doctorate degree from the University of Athens, and in 2007 his PhD thesis entitled “Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy for BPH – From Evidencebased Guidelines to Clinical Practice” from the University of Amsterdam.
S. Gravas is member of the Board of the Directors of the Endourological Society. He is a member (and vice-chairman since 2011) of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines Working Group on Male LUTS and member of the Council of the Clinical Research Office of the Endourological Society (CROES) representing Europe. Other working group memberships include the Editorial Board at Large of European Urology, European Urology Supplements, the Editorial Board of Journal of Endourology (Section Editor on New Technologies).
Member of many national and international societies and reviewer in European Urology, Journal of Urology, Urology, British Journal of Urology International, Journal of Endourology, International Journal of Urology, Current Urology, Clinical Drug Investigation and Hellenic Urology.
Stavros Gravas is Assistant Professor of Urology (University of Thessaly) and works at the Department of Urology of the University Hospital of Larissa. His main fields of interest include endourology, stone disease, and minimally invasive therapies for BPH.
